Understand the Brain.
Transform the Home.
You know your child. Now learn how they learn.
The Learning Parent Lab educates parents about how children learn and so they can use that knowledge to better support learning at home.
Parents are expected to support learning, but most have never been taught how learning actually works. The Learning Parent Lab helps close that gap by bringing evidence about attention, memory, knowledge, thinking and practice beyond classrooms and into homes.
Why We Exist
Parents deserve to understand how learning works.
Educators have access to professional learning, research, frameworks and training designed to help them understand how students learn. Parents, despite playing an enormous role in their children's learning, rarely have access to that same knowledge.
We ask parents to help children study, practice, read, focus and persevere, but we rarely teach parents what is happening in the mind during learning.
The Learning Parent Lab exists to help close that gap.
We bring the science of learning beyond classrooms and into homes, making research about learning accessible, engaging and useful for everyday family life.
Signature Framework
Educate
Give parents access to the science of learning.
Understand
Help parents make sense of attention, memory, knowledge, thinking and practice.
Apply
Translate that understanding into practical ways to support learning at home.
Understanding Changes How You Respond.
When parents understand how learning works, everyday moments begin to look different. Forgetting is not automatically laziness. Difficulty is not always a sign that a child cannot do the work. Repeating an explanation is not always the best next step.
Knowledge gives parents another lens for interpreting what they see and deciding how to help.
Before we ask children to try harder, let's understand what learning requires.
Interactive experiences that make the science of learning understandable, memorable and practical for parents.
Engaging sessions for conferences, parent organizations, community events and family-learning experiences.
Customized parent education experiences for schools, districts, churches and community organizations.
