The science of learning shouldn't stay in the classroom.
Parents are some of the most important people in a child's learning journey. Yet most parents have never been taught how attention, memory, knowledge, thinking and practice actually work.
The Learning Parent Lab was created to change that.
Parents deserve access to the knowledge behind learning.
Parents are constantly asked to support learning. Help with homework. Encourage reading. Practice skills. Build good study habits. Keep children motivated.
But supporting learning is difficult when no one has explained how learning works.
The Learning Parent Lab translates the science of learning into engaging, accessible learning experiences created specifically for parents. Parents don't leave with another list of parenting tips. They leave understanding more about how learning works and why it matters.
Our Approach
Educate. Understand. Apply.
We teach the science, create opportunities for parents to experience learning principles themselves, and help them connect what they learn to real moments at home.
What We Believe
Parents do not need to become teachers at home.
Parents can make better decisions when they understand the science behind learning.
Research is most useful when people can understand it and apply it.
Learning challenges should invite curiosity before judgment.
Parents deserve high-quality learning experiences too.
What Parents Learn
The Science Behind Everyday Learning
ATTENTION
What captures attention, what competes for it, and why attention is essential for learning.
MEMORY
How information is remembered, why forgetting happens, and what helps learning stick.
KNOWLEDGE
Why what a child already knows shapes what they can understand and learn next.
THINKING
Why the learner needs to do the thinking and how parents can support without taking over.
PRACTICE
Why all practice is not equal and how effective practice strengthens learning.
Founder
Randi Blair
“If understanding how learning works can change what educators do in classrooms, what could that same knowledge do for parents at home?”
Randi Blair is an educator, learning designer, and founder of The Learning Parent Lab, where she helps parents understand how children learn so they can better support learning at home.
With more than 20 years of experience in education, Randi has worked across classrooms, schools, school systems, and educator preparation programs to translate research about learning into practical strategies. She holds a bachelor's degree in Biology from Colorado College and a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Science Education from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Drawing from both her professional experience and her perspective as a mother, Randi created The Learning Parent Lab to bring the science of learning beyond classrooms and into homes.
Grounded in research. Designed for real life.
